Samsung i900 Omnia PDA phone

samsung i900

A very stylish phone from Samsung is here and it’s called Samsung i900 Omnia. This full touch screen phone have a massive screen and what I like most about this phone is that it has only two buttons on front, i.e., call and end button. We need only these two buttons on any touch screen phone but most of the touch screen phones we see today have lots of buttons. So why only these two buttons? Well for me I could do without these too and I am really waiting to see a fully “no button” phone and every thing from touch screen but I think mobile companies will think it as a crazy (and flop) idea and never make such phone.

Talking about technical details, Samsung Omnia is a PDA phone running on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system. Interestingly it comes with a good 5 MP camera with LED flash for taking clearer pictures even in low light conditions and also some advanced camera features like advanced smile shot and face detection, otherwise not all PDA’s have such good quality camera for simple reason that PDA phone are already stuffed with so many chips inside that manufacturers find it hard to embed a bigger and better camera, this is one reason and other reason is that mobile companies think that PDA phone users are mostly business users wearing suits and they will hardly have time to play with their phone and take photos. Other advanced features of this phone are GPS navigation, GPRS with EDGE technology for faster browsing, large 3.2 inch QVGA LCD screen. Wider screen is really useful for any phone which is GPRS enabled because browsing sites on small phone screen is really a pain. It is available in both 8GB and the 16GB versions. I am already in love with this phone and it can be my next phone if something goes wrong with my current PDA. In that case I’ll look for mobile phone deals at online mobile stores and buy it.

Samsung mobile phones are durable and last long and their built quality is also great. Some companies are degrading their phone quality to help maintain their profit margin even after reducing price; this is bad practice while Samsung has maintained quality in their phones always. Omnia weighs about 125 grams which is quite light for a PDA phone of this category and comes with a battery which provides 10 hours of talk time or 430 hours of backup on standby. Again these figures are good considering PDA phone with big LCD screen.

nettop

Looking at this desktop (named nettop ) at first sight it looks like Mac computer painted black. However in reality it’s a normal desktop PC from TG Sambo running Windows XP Home Edition but I must say it looks very compact and sophisticated in design. Technically speaking TG Sambo has just transformed an Atom based laptop into desktop. Its Powered by Intel Atom N270 (1.60GHz) processor, supports 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD, DVD Super Multi drive and have Intel 945GSE Express chipset.

Nokia N85 launch in UK

n85

There are phones which are dedicated music phone, or champ in taking pictures like the Samsung Pixon M8800 while phones like N-gage were good for gaming. With so many new launches in mobile phones market from others, long aviated N85 can now be purchased as Nokia N85 launching in the UK is confirmed and it is going to be priced around 665 USD which seems quite a lot for a phone but hope as always prices will drop within few weeks after launch. Talking about the looks of this phone, N85 feels good to hold and from the first look, it gives very clean and lean impression which as soon as you slide open the multimedia keys and begin playing games on it, you will say that ‘yes now it looks more like other Nokia’s otherwise in closed position with display off, anyone can mistaken it for HTC touch or even some new creation from Apple.

Camera is almost a standard now and N85 has a gem of a camera. The 5 MP Carl Zeiss leans coupled with dual Led flash provides excellent photo capability to the phone and in everyday use, the camera will never disappoint except in those very low light places (almost dark). Video recording is great and videos recorded by this phone are not at all pixilated with jerky playback, thanks to the 30 frames per second recording.

The interesting thing to know is that the 2.6 inch LCD screen of this phone is made from OLED (organic light emitting diode) technology is offers good color saturation and brightness. Not only display, built quality of the whole phone is good, a healthy 70 mb of internal memory is provided to the phone and external memory card slot supports up to 8 GB of memory card. So in terms of memory at least, this phone can be said as future proof.

People who use their phone more for music, than talking to someone will love that 3.5 mm headphone jack because now they can easily use any headphone and also plug this phone to any aux source for example their car music system and enjoy music in car which is played from their phone. For wireless connectivity, Bluetooth is there and with A2DP technology, we can expect some non stop music over Bluetooth wireless headphone.

Overall, this phone is a good buy for people who want more from their mobile phone.

acer laptop

Acer is going to launch its eMachines-branded entry level notebook pc ‘E520′ in Japan market on October 31.

Adopting a 15.4-inch wide LCD monitor with 1,280×800 resolution, the E520 is equipped with Intel Celeron 575 (2Ghz) CPU, 1GB of RAM and 160GB HDD. Running on Windows Vista Home Premium OS, it adopts DVD Super-Multi drive and Intel GL40 Express. Measuring 364.6×273.6×27~38.4mm at 2.8kg, it offers around 3 hours of battery life. Suggested price is 640 USD.

In my opinion, Acer should have excluded Vista to lower price even more and also not many computer users are keen on using Vista.

Samsung U800 Mobile phone

samsung u800

Electronics giant Samsung has launched yet another phone which will attract many top of the line mobile phone model buyers. Last time we reviewed Samsung Pixon M8800 which was indeed a nice phone but we felt the plastic body did not do justice to a phone with so many features. What I want to say here is when phone comes with features of many other devices like camera (since Samsung M8800 was having 8MP camera, it can be almost called as point and shoot camera replacement), mp4 player, GPS, then such phone is going to be used much more than a basic mobile phone. For this reason, the phone should be made tough and what can be stronger than a phone made of steel. Samsung U800 is another multimedia phone from Samsung with body made of brushed stainless steel.

Talking about technical details, this phone is equipped with 2 inch TFT screen which is capable of displaying 16 million colors and since we know Samsung makes good displays, the screen will never disappoint you. Camera is only 3 MP with 4x digital zoom but for a phone, 3MP is more than enough. You can get fairly good resolution and images can be used for getting larger prints, not too large for but good enough for home albums. Anyways this phone is not a camera replacement phone but still good enough for casual use. For non stop music listens, this phone comes with mp3 player and stereo FM inbuilt. With so many radio stations popping up, sometimes it doesn’t feel any need of putting mp3 files in your phone as FM channels just do the job well. On the connectivity front, this phone is a 3G Tri band phone with HSDPA connectivity which means you can expect some smooth web page browsing on your phone which was terrible till now even with older edge technology which didn’t made much difference. Its almost known to everyone and not needed to tell but just for sake of providing complete information, the phone does have Bluetooth.

Phone comes with 1GB micro SD card which is enough for average multimedia phone buyers but if you need more storage, you can always use a higher capacity micro SD card on this mobile phone. Usually people have an image about these multimedia phones that they have really poor backup but Samsung U800 has an impressive 6 hours of talk time and 320 hours of standby battery backup. To sum up, Samsung U800 is good buy for people who want more features in their phone with decent backup and good camera.
