Lenovo unveils the latest additions to its Idea brand of personal computers for consumers at CES 2009.

The new PCs push the envelope in the pursuit of thinner and more stylish designs, and combine these attributes with unique features like facial recognition and high-definition entertainment technologies to give consumers a computing experience like no other.

There are four new IdeaPad laptops – the IdeaPad Y650, one of the thinnest and lightest 16-inch laptops, the Y550 and Y450 laptops with a similar family design to the Y650, and one of the thinnest all-in-one desktop PCs, the IdeaCentre A6002. With the explosive growth of social networking, Lenovo also continues to enhance its IdeaPad S10 netbook with new instant on capability, facial recognition and easy access to Lenovo’s social networking community.

In particular, Lenovo delivers its first 16-inch widescreen laptop ‘IdeaPad Y650′, as one of the thinnest and lightest 16-inch laptops. In fact, the laptop weighs less than many 15-inch laptops, providing users with an additional inch of screen space without compromising on mobility. Making use of advanced materials, Lenovo has engineered the laptop down to a slender one-inch at its thinnest point with a weight of just 5.6 pounds.

The expanded Y Series adds new screen sizes to the IdeaPad laptop lineup: the 16-inch Y650, the 15.6-inch Y550, and the 14-inch Y450. The new Y Series laptops are configurable with up to 500GB of hard drive storage space and up to 4GB of DDR3 memory.

With what next tag line in their all ads, it looks like Samsung is in a marathon race of creating fantastic mobile phones. Every time they come up with a new model, they surprise me. This time we will be talking about the new Samsung Tocco which is also known as Samsung SGH-480 or simply F480. Holding the phone in your hand, first thing you will notice is the big 2.8 QVGA color screen which is a pure pleasure to have in phone. Having a bigger screen means more space on screen for doing work because this phone is sully touch screen phone so having a big screen is definitely a plus point. A touch screen phone with small screen is a real pain, anyone having such phone knows well.

There are many cool features in this phone and what I like most is the balance of all features. You think of any latest feature found in multimedia phones and you find it in the F480! Bigger screen of this phone will allow you to surf web easily without need to scroll insanely and the features like EDGE will help you get the maximum out of your GPRS connection. This phone when loaded with a GPRS connection will be like carrying a small laptop as this phone has so many features and computer capabilities that you may not miss your laptop when traveling. Samsung has made a wonderful phone that everyone would like to have in pocket.

A 5 MP camera is there in this phone which makes sure you get almost standalone digital camera like pictures. When you have a camera phone which is 5 MP, you don’t have to worry about the picture quality because anything above 3 Mp will give you good result, below this, the picture quality is not good. Usually we have seen that daylight photos are good but night photos are very much blurred. This phone comes with a flash that brightens up the area just like any other camera flash and thus enabling good quality photos even at low lights. For storing these photos, you can install microSD cards for more memory space. If you take many photos then you can straight away install 8 GB microSD card and it will give you enough space for some time to come.

For entertainment, the phone comes with FM, music and video players and a heavy duty long life battery s so that your entertainment never comes on halt! There are many mobile phone deals available making the purchase of these new phones more practical.

d3x

Nikon Europe introduced its new top-of-the-range D-SLR ‘D3X’. Building on the reliability, handling and durability of the award-winning D3, the D3X offers an imaging sensor with far higher resolution than its counterpart, breaking new ground in imaging quality.

The all-new 24.5MP CMOS sensor makes the new camera eminently suitable for the broadest range of shooting situations, both in the studio and on location, and will be especially appreciated by uncompromising photographers in nature photography, studio work and fashion.

The D3X boasts a specially-developed FX-format CMOS image sensor with 12-channel readout, gapless micro lens array and on-chip noise reduction. It delivers class-leading levels of continuous shooting speed and noise management at higher sensitivities without sacrificing detail.

The D3X supports a broad ISO range from ISO 100-1600, extendable down to ISO 50 and up to 6400 equivalent with up to 5 fps continuous shooting at full resolution, or 7 fps in the 10MP DX-crop mode. The acclaimed Multi-CAM3500FX 51-point autofocus system enables extremely accurate single-point accuracy with outstanding dynamic tracking for fast moving subjects in low light.

The camera’s LiveView function offers a smooth workflow option, perfect for studio work or other situations where the use of the viewfinder is impractical. The camera also delivers a superb response rate, with a start-up of just 12 milliseconds and 40ms shutter lag. The Kevlar/carbon fibre composite shutter has been designed for intensive professional needs and tested to 300,000 cycles.

The D3X reaps the benefits of the very latest developments in sensor design and image processing technology. Designed to produce files suitable to meet the demands of tomorrow’s commercial and stock requirements, the camera produces 50MB 14-bit NEF (Raw) files. Using Capture NX2 software, NEF files can be processed into medium format terrain; 140MB (16-bit TIFF-RGB). Fine details are reproduced with incredible clarity, whilst shadows and highlights contain tonal gradation with minimal clipping for pictures with a unique look and feel.

The D3X shares the same ergonomics and handling as the D3, which have been designed to enable anyone to get to work quickly and efficiently. The bright, uncluttered viewfinder features 100% coverage and comprehensive illuminated displays, while the high-definition, 3-inch, 920,000-dot VGA TFT monitor enables outstanding playback quality for on-the-spot image assessment. The D3X’s magnesium body, which is sealed for moisture and dust resistance, also supports Nikon’s wireless system (the WT-4), HDMI output, offers a dual slot for CF cards and is compatible with the new GP-1 GPS unit.
